Hearts

Goal

Take as few points as you can. Every heart is 1 point, the queen of spades 13. When someone reaches 100, the lowest score wins.

Passing

Before each hand pass three cards: left, then right, then across; every fourth hand nobody passes.

Tricks

• The two of clubs leads the first trick. Follow suit if you can; if not, play anything.
• The highest card of the suit led takes the trick and leads next.
• No hearts or queen of spades on the first trick, unless you have nothing else.
• Hearts cannot be led until one has been played, unless you hold only hearts.

Shooting the moon

Take all the hearts and the queen of spades in one hand: you score 0 and everyone else 26.
